Statewide: Chalk It Up with CaRES on Saturday August 3

Join CaRES from 10 a.m.-12 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 3, in communities across the state. CaRES will be hosting a fun-filled morning with chalk art, popsicles, connection and FUN! Park meet-ups are a great opportunity to meet others who “get it.” Your CaRES connectors and mentors hope you will join them in the following communities. Yakima, Vancouver, Wenatchee, Ellensburg, Auburn, Spokane, Arlington, Puyallup and Tacoma/Lakewood. Exact locations will be set and shared soon so keep an eye on your email and social media. Each kiddo/youth who attends will receive a small gift bag with chalk and other goodies. If you’d like to host a group in your neighborhood, please contact Kati Brown at [email protected] and we’ll coordinate with you to send you everything you need for a successful event!

Regional summer events

  • King County Caregiver Appreciation Picnic: Come “camp out” with us for a day at Carkeek Park in Seattle (940 NW Carkeek Park Road) for a summer camp-themed picnic from 12-3 p.m. July 13. There will be delicious food, tons of activities for kids and teens, raffles, and back-to-school supplies. We’ll have both Shelters 1 & 2 and the big field and playground in-between. This is full-family event. Please RSVP to [email protected] by June 30 to help with a headcount.
  • A No-Cost Night at the Ballpark for Walla Walla Families: The Walla Walla Child Advocates Program and CaRES have teamed up to bring local caregivers and children to the Walla Walla Sweets baseball game on Tuesday, July 23. Free tickets are available for the first 100 attendees. In addition, each family will receive a $35 voucher to use at the team swag shop and will also receive a voucher for a free food item and drink item at the concession stand. The bases will be blue in honor of your hard work as foster and kinship parents and all children in the ballpark will be invited to run the bases, if they choose!
  • Free Baseball in Spokane: CaRES, Embrace Washington and the Spokane Indians invite you to join us at the Avista Stadium. Save the date for Wednesday, Aug. 14, for a night at the ballpark for foster, kinship, adoptive and guardianship families. Tickets are free to the first 60 attendees. It is family feast night at the stadium with $2 hot dogs, sodas and ice cream sandwiches all night. Stay in the ballpark after the game as kids will have fun opportunity to circle the bases. Bring the whole family and come prepared to cheer the Indians to victory! More communication will come with how to sign up for tickets.
  • Clark County: Foster Family and Kinship Relative Overnight Camp: Sept. 13-15 at Camp Hope in Battleground. Brought to you by Cloth+Foster. Email [email protected] for more information.
