Clarification of Family Time In-Person Visitation Expectations

Clarification of Family Time In-Person Visitation Expectations

In response to inquiries, the Department of Children, Youth, and Families (DCYF) offers the following information to clarify its expectations related to in-person visitation. On June 17, 2020, the Governor’s proclamation 20.33 was extended to July 1, 2020. The Proclamation does not suspend in-person visits, but gives DCYF and Family Time providers the flexibility to utilize remote technology when in-person visit cannot be provided safely.

What This Means

In-person visits can and should be provided in cases where health and safety protocols can be followed.

Family Time In-Person Visits Guidance

In cases where health and safety protocols cannot be followed, the visit should occur remotely.
If the visit must be cancelled, it should be rescheduled.
If a Family Time provider is unable to provide in-person visitation even when health and safety protocols can be followed, the visit should be re-assigned to another provider who is able to provide in-person visitation.

Please remember, regardless of whether the proclamation is extended or not, DCYF is committed to returning safely to in-person visitation. If you have any questions, please contact the Regional Leads.
