DCYF is using CARES funds for a one-time grant for licensed foster families

Licensed foster parents in WA should have received an email from DCYF today announcing a one-time grant that will be paid within the next week.

DCYF recognizes that caring for children experiencing foster care comes with costs. To that end, we are making available one-time funding to attempt to offset some of these costs. DCYF will distribute these funds to licensed foster parents as follows:

  • This funding is a one-time grant for active licensed foster parents as of Jan. 1, 2021.
  • Funding is intended to support costs associated with COVID. These costs may include purchasing appropriate masks, supplies needed for schooling at home, and other unanticipated costs associated with COVID.
  • Grant awards will be $950 per child in your care.
  • These funds will be issued no later than Jan. 15, 2021. No action is necessary for Licensed Foster Parents to access these funds. DCYF recognizes that this is a difficult time for many, and we hope that these grants provide some support for you and your family.
