Inslee proclamation prevents young adults from aging-out of foster care

With the COVID-19 pandemic looming over the nation, Washington Gov. Jay Inslee issued a proclamation today to protect young adults in foster care, implementing the federal prohibition on letting youth in extended foster care services from “aging-out” of foster care at during the pandemic.

For youth who did age out of care in 2020, the state provided rent assistance to about 185 youth through December 2020: https://www.dcyf.wa.gov/news/extended-foster-care-rent-assistance-update
