National SOGIE Center: resources for supporting kids

National SOGIE Center: resources for supporting kids

via the Child Welfare Information Gateway

Social justice organizations have banded together to create the National SOGIE Center.

The National Center for Youth With Diverse Sexual Orientation, Gender Identity, & Expression (the National SOGIE Center) was made to address the needs of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and questioning (LGBTQ+) youth and their families who are involved with public systems, such as child welfare or juvenile justice. The center is the result of a 5-year Children’s Bureau project, led by the Institute for Innovation and Implementation, which designed, implemented, and evaluated 15 programs and initiatives.

The center provides trainingtechnical assistance, and resources to help support culturally responsive systems. Child welfare professionals and service providers can access information on workforce training, LGBTQ+ data collection, youth and family programming, and other resources that promote the well-being of these youth and families.

Explore the center’s website and discover what it has to help improve the well-being of LGBTQ+ youth and families.
