The Story of Why “Save Our Spot”
In the beginning there was an opportunity to get caregivers a discount at Great Wolf Lodge if we held a conference and spent $11,000 on food. So we put the word out that we had were going to hold the Pacific Northwest Caregivers Conference at Great Wolf Lodge. We asked who is going to come? We filled our room block numbers in a few days. Then the calls kept coming as more and more people wanted to go! So we created a waiting list. We got a few more rooms, but not enough to cover the waiting list.
We built the website and folks started registering. As we grew closer to the event we found that many folks, that said they were coming, hadn’t registered. We waited and reached out to a few. Then we started calling the waiting list and folks had to make this decision a few days before the event. Understand we couldn’t afford, and still can’t afford an event planner. So to avoid this chaos, we built the “Save Our Spot” fundraiser. Now folks had some skin in the game and we had some funds to reward some of those on the list. Last year we gave away vacuum cleaners. People on the list get the discount code at least a week before those not on the list. We sell our every year, so we hope this ist has value to those that love this event. We hear you do!
