Lived experience is recognized across an increasing number of domains as a valuable source of expertise on how to help anyone.
This year iFoster released their first-ever guide Lived Experience to Fixing Foster Care; coupled with last year’s report, 6,000 lived experience voices have shaped this compendium’s comprehensive findings and recommendations. The core recommendations are
- put the child at the center
- prevent the need for care by addressing poverty
- professionalize caregivers
- auto-enrolment in support services
- self-sufficiency is a choice
